Kitty Winter

Movement Director - Choreographer - Director

Hello, I'm Kitty.

I am a movement director, choreographer and theatre director based in the East Midlands and London, UK. I trained in contemporary dance and choreography at Trinity Laban, and as part of the very first cohort on the Movement MA at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
I work across a wide range of theatrical scales and contexts, from village halls to the West End and Broadway. As a movement director much of my work has been within new writing, working frequently with Nottingham Playhouse, Derby Theatre, Pentabus and New Perspectives. As a director and choreographer I specialise in work for children and families, often involving live music and physical comedy. Between 2013 and 2022 I was co-artistic director of WinterWalker, creating physical performance for children and families, and I am a staff director for Box Clever Theatre, dubbed the National Touring Theatre to schools’ company. Follow the link below to see some of my recent theatre and performance work.

Alongside my performance-making practice I am an academic and educator. I lecture in dance research at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and deliver workshops and training in practice research, devising and directing and performer movement. Follow the link below to find out more about my research projects and teaching.
